If you would like to nominate your student for the AIG Identification process, please do the following:
#1: Make direct contact with your child’s homeroom teacher. Discuss your desire to nominate your child with their homeroom teacher BEFORE completing the nomination form. Homeroom teachers play an integral role in gathering classroom work samples that show the student’s higher capabilities and need for direct AIG service.
#2: Carefully read all of the information listed below.
#3: Complete the Google Form: The AIG teacher will reach out via email within a few weeks regarding your nomination and the next steps.
What You Need to Know About the Identification Process:
Teachers or parents may nominate:
*High achieving 3rd, 4th or 5th-grade AIG students who wish to add a second area of
identification
*High achieving 3rd, 4th or 5th-grade students who were not tested Fall 2025
*High achieving 3rd, 4th or 5th-grade students who are not already identified
*High achieving new 3rd, 4th or 5th-grade students who are new to Wake County
Schools
*A nomination is not a guaranteed referral for the AIG identification process. Your nomination will be reviewed by the School-Based Committee for Gifted Education at Oak Grove. This committee is made up of the AIG teacher, administration, and other staff who support your student at school. They will review all current data and determine which students will be referred and which will not.
*Although nominations for testing may be received by the AIG teacher throughout the school year, they will only be reviewed after the Fall and Spring testing nomination windows.
*Please let us know if you have current psychological testing from your previous school district or your student’s doctor. We might be able to use this information when considering how best to support your student.
If you have any questions, please contact the AIG teacher at cgarcia8@wcpss.net.
Thank you!
