Information for current 4th-5th grade students...
Nominations will be accepted throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Students will only be tested, however, within the WCPSS AIG testing windows. Nominations accepted after the Fall 2026 testing window will be placed in the Spring 2027 testing window. Nominations accepted after the Spring 2027 testing window will be placed in the Fall 2027 testing window.
Information for 3rd grade Parents...
3rd grade students were given a universal screener in 2nd grade. Those scores remain valid through the 26-27 school year. Students may be nominated during their 3rd grade year, but will not be eligible for testing until the 27-28 school year. (*unless new to WCPSS/did not test in 2nd grade)
Information for 2nd grade Parents...
Universal Screener Testing will be administered to all 2nd graders.
CogAT Testing- The CogAT 2nd grade assesses verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative abilities, and is used for admissions into gifted programs. The CogAT is an especially strong test for measuring relative academic strengths and weaknesses. All WCPSS 2nd graders will be assessed during the school year.
IOWA Testing- The 2nd grade IOWA assesses achievement; what the student has learned so far. This test is given after the CogAT to students who score 85% or higher in one or more areas of the CogAT.
