Biography

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 30 years and we have two beautiful daughters who have grown up and started their own lives. Luckily, we all live in the Triangle Area . I am just waiting for grandchildren to come along!

I graduated from Pembroke State University (now called University of North Carolina-Pembroke) with a Bachelor's degree in Mentally Handicapped. I have been teaching self contained special education students in NC for 30 years and in SC for 6 years. Most of my experience has been with students who are moderately intellectually disabled in both elementary and middle school settings. During this time, I have also started a summer camp for campers with special needs at a local church, volunteered with the State and International Special Olympics and supervised students in Unified Champions.

In my free time , I love to read on my Kindle while swinging in a hammock in the backyard. I also love to travel with my husband and we have fond memories of beautiful places in Europe, such as Tuscany in Italy, the Black Forest in Germany, medieval cities in France and the Mediterranean Sea.
