Piano 1 &2 Course Objectives
Demonstrate the fundamental techniques for piano performance.
Set goals and keep track of your progress by writing in your piano journals daily.
Interpret standard notation for rhythm and pitch in the
treble and bass clef through playing on the piano.Perform scales and cadences in Major and minor keys.
Participate in a piano showcase at the end of the quarter.
Classroom Expectations
Please arrive on time to class each day!
All students are expected to follow the ROAR Expectations.
Bathroom Policy:
Please ask for permission to use the bathroom either at the
beginning or during the last ten minutes of class.Only one person may go at a time.
Please fill out and bring your agenda to me to sign before
going to the bathroom.
Cell Phone Policy:
Cell phones must be on silent and in your bookbags during class
unless given permission to use them for instructional purposes.
Grading Policy
40%-Classwork
You will receive 100 points each week towards your classwork grade.
60%-Assessments
4 playing tests consist of you performing in front of your peers.
The 5th playing test consist of you performing in front of your parents.
Piano Performance Assessment Rubric
5 points max for demonstrating excellent piano technique.
5 points max for accurately interpreting all rhythms.
5 points max for accurately interpreting all pitches.
5 points max for consistently performing on a steady beat.
