Who Should Audition For Chorus?
Rising 6th-8th Graders With No Choral Experience
Rising 6th-8th grade students who are currently attending or will be new to Moore Square next school year and have no prior choral experience can enroll in Level 1 Chorus without an audition. Please click here to fill out the student survey if you are interested in signing up to take Level 1 Chorus (Apprentice Chorus) next school
year.
Rising 7th-8th Graders Currently Enrolled In A Chorus Elective
Students currently enrolled in Level 1 Chorus (Apprentice Chorus) will automatically be enrolled in Level 2 Chorus (Vocal Ensemble) next school year.
Please go ahead and request Level 2 Chorus (Vocal Ensemble).
Students currently enrolled in Vocal Ensemble will automatically be enrolled in Level 3 Chorus (Honors Chorus).
Please go ahead and request Level 3 Chorus. (Honors Chorus)
On March 23-March 30, students currently enrolled in chorus will participate in a vocal range test and sing "My Country Tis of Thee" during class. The purpose of this is to determine your voice classification (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone/Bass) for next school year.
Rising 6th-8th Graders With Chorus and/or Singing Experience
Rising 6th-8th grade students who are currently attending
or will be new to Moore Square and have at least one year of experience
singing in a choir or taking voice lessons should do the following to audition for placement in Vocal Ensemble or Honors Chorus:
Step 1

Step 2
Click on the link below for your voice type and practice singing along with the recording.
Step 3
Record yourself singing only the first verse of "My Country Tis of Thee" without using the youtube recording. The recording of you singing must be acapella. You may use the sheet music.
Step 4
Email your recording to me @ kcervin@wcpss.net by Tuesday, March 4.
Recordings will not be accepted after Tuesday, March 4.

Click here to sign up for an in-person audition. In-person auditions will take place on Tuesday, February 25 & Tuesday, March 4 from 2:30pm-4:00pm.
At the in-person audition, you will do a vocal range test & do a rhythmic & melodic sight-singing exercise. You will only do a rhythmic & melodic sight-singing exercise if you have prior experience singing in a choir, taking voice lessons, or playing another instrument. No preparation is required for this in-person audition.
