Background

Welcome to my professional portfolio! My name is Lexi Becraft and I am fifth grade teacher at East Garner Elementary School. I received my bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in behavioral studies from UNC Wilmington. This is my second year at East Garner Elementary, and I am grateful to be in a career that I love!

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all students have the ability to become independent learners, and I have a passion for working with and fostering children to take an active role in their learning, while also providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful. I believe in facilitating an engaging classroom where high expectations are held and high achieving students are created.

I believe creating relationships with students is the most important part of teaching. I strive to create a classroom environment where students have the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as gain an abundance of confidence in themselves.

Hobbies and Interests

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with fiance, my family and my friends. I love running, spending time on the beach, and going for walks at Umstead park. One of my all time favorite things to do is travel! My fiance and I love exploring new cities and countries together. My favorite place I have traveled so far is Greece!
