Reflect on the Practice

I reflect on my practice regularly. My math partner and I collaborate and reflect on our lessons and tests by discussing misconceptions students are having, how to correct these misconceptions, and what we can do to increase understanding and raise test scores. We talk daily about student progress. I keep a notebook with student grades to help me keep track of their progress over the quarter and year.

My team teacher and I collaborate regularly about student growth, behavior, and we conduct parent teacher conferences together.

I collaborate with my fellow beginning teachers and mentors in our monthly BT meetings. We discuss what we are doing in our classrooms, what works and what does not, we give each other suggestions, and get new ideas to try. This is a very big part of reflecting on my practice.

We attend professional development seminars and different training sessions to increase our knowledge of what we are teaching and how we deliver the content. I recently attended a workshop about misconceptions in math and how we can approach and correct them.

An example of what we discuss in our BT meetings. We answered the questions and then had a group discussion.
