Ms. DeRensis

I was born in New York City, but grew up in Boston as one of five children. I spent most of my childhood in a book, on the beach, or running, including nine seasons of cross country and track. After graduating with a degree in philosophy from the University of Rhode Island, I worked with students with autism and developmental disabilities at a residential school in New York. I moved to Arizona and studied education while working with foster children and then adolescent boys in a therapeutic group home. Before moving to North Carolina, I taught fifth grade in Apache Junction. This is my third year at Lynn Road.

I have four children between the ages of seventeen and seven who keep me very busy. I spend most of my free time in their worlds of soccer, robotics, violin, dance, swimming, and gymnastics. My hobbies include reading, running, gardening, and hiking. I have run three marathons and many half marathons. Being a teacher, running with my children, and being outdoors are my favorite things!
