Login Problems

• Trouble Logging into network (PC or Laptop)?
• make sure there are no spaces or cap locks with login
• does email work when you login as another user? (This tells us if your account is disabled)
• get serial number shown below when you click on "login with another domain" (# needed for Heat Ticket)
• serial number must include "STAF" - on staff computers. Student computers don't have this.

IBM BigFix Installer

If you need to install software provided by WCPSS, you can easily do it from your task bar. You might need programs like SMART, Letterland, and Reflector2. Follow this diagram...

1. Find "IBM BigFix" within your task bar, it might be in the "Hidden Icons" arrow.

2. Click on the Blue lower case b for "IBM BigFix"

3. Type in your program. If it doesn't come up, your program is already installed on your computer OR you're logged in as a student who can't have that program.

PC and Laptop Hardware

• make sure wifi is on (hit F8 on the top row of the laptop to see if it has been turned off/put into airplane mode)
• cable check: keyboard, mouse, audio (can go in back), power, monitor
• restart computer to receive updates
• get serial number by audio jack on PC, or silver letters on bottom of laptop to email to ethrash@wcpss.net to send in Tech Heat Ticket

Keyboard won't work in WORD

Minimize and re-enlarge Word and it will work

OR

For a permanent solution: Smart Board Add-Ins need to be disabled within Word:

• Open Word,
• Click on File
• Click on Options
• Click on Add-Ins
• Click on Smart-Ink Add-Ins at the top of the list
• Click on GO at the bottom next the drop-down that shows COM Add-Ins
• In the window that opens, un-check any SMART options, then click OK

• Colors Projection Problems? (colors or no display)

Projector Issues

Blinking Orange Light - might be dusty.

1. Get Ladder, can of air

2. Spray both sides of projector

ELMO Document Camera

INPUT: RGB IN1=projector & computer

RGB IN2=projector & Elmo

To use the ELMO: 1. Plug in the cart. 2. Turn ELMO power switch ON. 3. Turn PROJECTOR power switch ON. 4. When power light is steady orange: Press Standby/On button. 5. Wait until power light is steady green, then: Press Input button until screen shows RGB IN2.

To turn off: 1. Turn ELMO power switch to OFF. 2. Press PROJECTOR Standby/on button once. 3. Press Standby/on button again. (Press as soon as the Power Off? Message appears on the screen.) 4. The power light will be blinking orange. ***WAIT until the power light is steady orange (The fan should now be off.) 5. Then you may turn PROJECTOR power switch OFF. 6. Unplug the cart.

To use the computer & projector: 1. Plug in the cart. 2. If using the network, plug the network cable into your wall network outlet. 3. Turn on the computer . Turn on the computer monitor. 4. Turn PROJECTOR power switch ON. 5. When power light is steady orange: Press Standby/On button. 6. Wait until power light is steady green, then: Press Input button until screen shows RGB IN1. (The screen should now show whatever is on your computer screen.)

To turn off: 1. Press PROJECTOR standby/on button once. 2. Press Standby/on button again. (Press as soon as the Power Off? Message appears on the screen.) 3. The power light will be blinking orange. ***WAIT until the power light is steady orange. (The fan should now be off.) 4. Then you may turn PROJECTOR power switch OFF. 5. Shutdown the computer. 6. Turn off the monitor 7. Unplug the cart.
