  • Students will be learning about the author's choice in writing. They will also research and write like a scientist or historian. Students will also discuss poetry and friendly letter writing. 


  • Students will continue to practice how to retell a story with a deep focus on discussing characters in fiction stories.

  • Students will learn about their world through reading. They will use informational texts to discuss what they are learning. Students will  identify the main topic and retell key details of a text. They will also Use the illustrations and details in a text to describe its key details.

  • Tap and blend long vowels, final letter (y /e/) and suffixes (ed /ed/, /d/, magic ed and /t/).

  • Recognize long vowel sounds verses short vowel sounds. 

  • Telling time to the hour and half hour

  • Partitioning circles and rectangles into equal shares. 

  • Explaining and decomposing shapes into more shares that result in smaller shares. 

  • Understand the role of basic economic concepts in the decisions people make. 

  • Distiguish between scarcity and limited resources. 

  • Recognize supply and demand and how it affect the choices people make. 

  • Discuss goods and services and how people can trade in different countries.

  • Understanding what natural resources are and the ways that humans use natural resources. 

  • Explain that natural resources are used daily but do not exist everywhere on Earth. 

  • Explain how humans can protect natural resources. 

  • Understand the basic needs of a variety of plants and animals in different ecosystems.
