  • Students will produce a piece of narrative writing. The writing should include 2 or more appropriately sequenced events, details, and provide closure.

  • Students will produce a piece of informative writing as part of a shared research project. They should have a topic sentence, supporting details, and a closing sentence.

  • Students will continue to practice how to retell a story with a deep focus on comparing characters in fiction stories and comparing topics in non-fiction stories.

  • Students will learn about their world through reading. They will use informational texts to gather reasons an author gives to support a topic.

  • Tap and blend long vowel partners and the magic e. Recognize long vowel sounds versus short vowel sounds.

  • Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction.

  • Add and subtract within 20.

  • Work with addition and subtraction equations.

  • Use place value understanding and properties of operations to add

  • and subtract.

  • Reason with shapes and their attributes.

  • Subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90, explaining the reasoning, using: Concrete models and drawings, Number lines, Strategies based on place value

  • Distinguish between defining and non-defining attributes and create appropriate shapes using 2-D drawings and by building 3-D shapes (2-D triangle, rectangle, square, trapezoid, hexagon, and circle) (3-D cube, prisms, cone, sphere, and cylinder)

  • Summarize the various ways in which people earn and use money for goods and services.

  • Identify examples of goods and services in the home, school and community.

  • Explain how supply and demand affect the choices families and communities make.

  • Understand the physical properties of Earth materials that make them useful in different ways.

  • Summarize the physical properties of Earth materials, including rocks, minerals, soils, and water that make them useful in different ways.

  • Compare the properties of soil samples from different places, relating their capacity to retain water, nourish, and support the growth of certain plants.
