The number of questions varies from test to test and we do not have access to the test ahead of the administration. The test is designed so that students who have an understanding of the curriculum can complete the test within the 90-minute time limit.
Students in 1st through 5th grade will take an online test. We will be using Google Classroom to have students participate in the test. On the test day, we will walk students through the login process and what to expect. We will send out more specific information before the test administration.
Math students will have one test administration that will include both multiple choice and open response items. Students do NOT have to write an explanation or show steps in the open response, but they will be required to type in their response.
ELA students will have TWO online test administrations. Each will have a 90-minute time limit. One will be multiple choice involving reading passages and selecting from multiple choice answers. The second will be a written essay responding to a prompt.
K students testing for ELA will first take the Istation subtests for first grade students. Students who qualify for further consideration will be administered a writing prompt. This will be scheduled after the Istation testing is complete.
K students testing for Math will participate in a small group or individual testing session that covers the first grade curriculum.
Yes, they can. We have students who are in both the SSA and AIG program as well as students who are only in AIG or only in SSA. Students who are in both will attend AIG classes with their grade-level peers, not their SSA class.
