Hello! I may be new to EGMMS for the 20-21 school year, but I am currently in my 5th year of teaching. As an Eastern North Carolinian I am originally from the small town of Roanoke Rapids, NC and went to East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. At ECU I majored in Music Education while performing on tuba. After graduating I began teaching at Whale Branch Early College High School in Beaufort, South Carolina from 2016-2020. Although the SC coast was beautiful, I moved back to Raleigh this past year with my husband and cat to be closer to family. I feel very fortunate to have found my way to East Garner to teach with such supportive colleagues and wonderful students! I am a proud member of both the National Association for Music Education and the North Carolina Bandmasters Association.

Mrs. Stokes' educational philosophy centers around ensuring growth in a scholar's whole being while in a safe and equitable environment. The focus is to help students achieve their maximum growth as musicians while also helping them grow as learners and members of society. Educating the whole child including social-emotional wellness and soft skills is a priority in her classroom.
