The Creative Arts are essential to our schools Magnet and IB philosophies.
As both a Creative Arts and International Baccalaureate Magnet School, the EGMMS Creative Arts Department operates as a collaboratively cohesive unit that provides meaningful and relevant expressions of art through music, drama, dance, and visual art. Students will study the roles and responsibilities of artists and their art as they consider creating meaningful, relevant, and quality artwork. Arts learners will strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, reflective. Creative Arts IB learners at EGMMS become self-reflective, as they learn to navigate artistic and design processes. Through these creative processes, students become aware of how the arts impact their local and global communities. Students have the opportunity to study various art forms as they relate the acquired skills to the history and significance of art within the global society. Students will study art as a means of self-expression, cultural relevance and identity, learning how art is shared in various communities of learners.
