Important for a Successful Performance.
Prior to each Fall musical and Spring play, we will host an information session which we encourage all performers and techies to attend.
If you are unable to make the rehearsal dates, please consider auditioning next year. If you miss two rehearsals for non-medical reasons, you will be asked to leave the show. If you have several conflicts during the dress rehearsals and/or performances, please consider auditioning next year. Do not audition just for the experience if you don’t plan on being in the show. That is frowned upon and takes a slot away from another student who may want to be a part of the Broadway Bengals.
You MUST sign up in advance for a slot on the auditorium door or you will not be seen for an audition or tech interview. This is a general schedule so any Fuquay Varina middle school student may sign up. Once it's full, we may be able to provide a waiting list to see additional auditionees and interviewees.
What happens at Auditions & Tech Interviews?
These are closed auditions and interviews ONLY if your name is on the list to audition or interview that day. These folks will show up to the auditorium at 3pm and after their audition slot, they may be picked up at the BUS loop.
Tech Interviews will be with Ms. Lundberg. Be thinking about why you want to join the tech team, what talent can you bring to the tech team, and what you hope to learn.
Auditions will be with Ms. Lundberg and Ms. Martin. You will sing & act the song you learn at auditions. While we are looking for singing strengths, we are also looking heavily at character choices, expression & movement choices. Oh, and have fun!
What happens after Auditions?
The show will be cast by the director & musical director and the tech list will be finalized. On the date announced during the information session, the cast and crew lists will be posted on the auditorium door.
Students have until 3pm on the day the list is posted to accept their part in the show. If a student does not communicate acceptance, the part will be re-cast.
IMPORTANT: Understand that we may not be able to cast everyone, cast you in the part you want and/or have a spot for all crew members, but will not tolerate inappropriate behavior, bullying or negative comments made about casting or crew chief choices.
Students will be given scripts and show contracts at the first rehearsal. As part of their artistic discipline, students are expected to rehearse music, learn their lines, and practice dances outside of rehearsal.
