MTAC Members 2018-2019
Co-Chair Marni Wall, Media Coordinator
- If you chose to serve on MTAC, tell me why? As our Brassfield Media Coordinator, I am required to serve as co chair, but I would want to be on this committee even if it was not required. I love being part of a team that promotes building a relevant library collection, technology resources, and practices that will help our students, staff, and community grow in their love of reading and ability to handle the growing information and technology tools in our always changing world.
- What is the greatest thing you did in your classroom this year with technology? I had students in 3rd through 5th grade create Visual Meet Me Projects in Google Slides to support the Positivity Project and the important belief that "other people matter." Students shared them with their classmates so every student had a time to be the focus while classmates showed with attention and positive questions that other people matter.
- What book was read in your room this year that is a favorite of YOURS? I have to say Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar. Over 50 students and family members read the book for our spring book club and connected with each other. I loved how the book inspires me and others to know that people can change for the better and that choosing to stay true to yourself and do the right thing is INSPIRING - not boring or being a "goody two shoes."
Co-Chair Terri Hawley, First Grade Classroom Teacher
- If you chose to serve on MTAC, tell me why? Having served in various school distracts across the state as an ITF, serving on MTAC is a committee close to my heart! While a classroom teacher I want to stay very active in the teaching and learning of technology in the classroom.
- What is the greatest thing you did in your classroom this year with technology? My first grade students have learned to post a variety of activities to Seesaw. They often take photos, record voice overs, complete activities, and comment on the work of others.
- What book was read in your room this year that is a favorite of YOURS? My first graders have loved the Wild Robot and Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown.
Megan Fanning, Second Grade Classroom Teacher
- If you chose to serve on MTAC, tell me why? I wanted to contribute to my team and encourage the use of technology as it is always evolving.
- What is the greatest thing you did in your classroom this year with technology? My students created presentations with the work they've done in Writer's Workshop for their classmates, teachers and families.
- What book was read in your room this year that is a favorite of YOURS? Every year I read aloud Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as it teaches children the character traits. Roald Dahl is a wonderful writer and I use it to celebrate good writing.
Taylor Booth, Kindergarten Classroom Teacher
- If you chose to serve on MTAC, tell me why? I serve on MTAC because I enjoy making sure our school has access to the most update technology, books, and other resources. At each meeting I enjoy collaborating with others to learn something new, which I implement in my classroom
- What is the greatest thing you did in your classroom this year with technology? This year I implemented Chromebooks and Google Classroom into my literacy and math rotations. Once the children learned about the Chromebooks it became their favorite center!
- What book was read in your room this year that is a favorite of YOURS? My favorite book to read is Officer Buckle and Gloria; this quickly became a class favorite too!!
