7th & 8th Grades

Course Description

In this course, students create artwork using two and three-dimensional design. Drawing, painting, sculpture and cut paper are among a few techniques used in completing artwork with oil and chalk pastels, markers, paints, colored paper, and other types of media. Students will review the Elements of Art (Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Texture and Value) and the Principles of Design (Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement, Pattern, Rhythm, and Unity). Application of the Elements and Principles to the students’ original art work is the major emphasis. In addition, students will be introduced to prominent past, contemporary, and multicultural artists.
