6th Grade
Course Description
This course is an introduction to Visual Arts for Middle School. Students will explore the Elements of Art (Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Texture, and Value). In addition, students will also be introduced to Color Theory and the Color Wheel. Application of these elements to the students’ original artwork is the major emphasis. This course also allows students to explore a variety of media and subject matter. Students will be introduced to prominent past, contemporary, and multicultural artists. Enjoyment of the process, taking pride in finished work, having positive self-esteem, and discovering personal identity are all key goals in Visual Arts Exploratory.
