SSA: Single Subject Acceleration Testing
Single Subject Acceleration is offered to students in one subject area only: Math or ELA.
This type of acceleration provides access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in the grade level above. Single Subject Acceleration is a separate program from the AIG (Academically/Intellectually Gifted) program.

SSA Nomination Window 25 - 26 : January 5th - 23rd
Parents should:
Attend your school’s SSA Virtual informational meeting. (January 6th at 9:30)
Determine which one subject your child will be assessed in (Mathematics or English Language Arts).
Complete the Central Services SSA Test Request Form.
Opens: January 5th at 8 am
Closes: January 23rd at 11:59 pm.
*All requests submitted outside of the student’s testing request windows will not be processed. Once the Google Form is completed, you will receive a confirmation email immediately. If you do not receive a confirmation email please email the Advanced Learning Services team at ssa@wcpss.net.

FAQ's for AFES
In the 24 - 25 school year, 10% of students tested at AFES qualified for SSA.
Once a student is in the SSA program, they do not need to retest in the following years.
6+ & 7+ acceleration: Students enrolled in 6+ & 7+ will receive asynchronous instruction. In-person instruction will NOT occur. Students will have an online instructor at NCVPS (North Carolina Virtual Public School) that they will communicate with, but this teacher does not provide "live" instruction to the classes.
