Introduction to the Different Kinds of Thinking - PETS
Lesson/Message - Students will read passages gain a deeper understanding of how to identify theme, lesson, message.
Math
Making a Difference - focusing on addition/subtraction patterns
How many Wheels - focusing on multiplication and patterns.
Rounding, But Not to 10 - focusing on rounding and midpoint.
Quarter 1:
ELA
Haiku Poems: Students will read various haikus to extract meaning & determine the theme from the concise wording. Students will then create a haiku poem for others to infer the topic.
Mysteries: Students infer the solution to various mysteries by using details from the text to support their ideas.
Identifying Theme - Students will read passages from Jacob’s ladder to a deeper understanding of how to identify Theme
Math
Multiplicative Comparisons: Students will use multiplicative comparisons to describe the heaviness of specific objects compared to another.
Prime Numbers: Students will create an alternative calendar using prime numbers and applying their understanding of factors and multiples.
Quarter 1:
ELA
6 Word Stories: Students will write a 6 word story about an image that is succinct and precise.
The Truth Behind The Manuscript: AIG ELA WCPSS resource to support analyzing texts, summarizing findings, and drawing conclusions.
Line Graphs: Students will analyzing data, predict patterns, and identify trends in an unknown data set.
Math
Volume: Enrichment Project from WCPSS
Expressions/Order of Operations: Students will create an order of operations calendar for the month of November using specific criteria.
