To Print a Poster on the HP DesignJet T210 →
- Edit your file to fit the page.
- Font could be as big as 80 for full width.
- Don’t use a dark background color, this will use too much ink. Use a light shade or light gray.
- In Page Layout, choose Landscape for wide and Portrait for tall
- In Page Layout, set up the paper size you want.
(See #10 below for options.) - You will need a .PDF document, not a .JPG, .PNG, website, Google Doc, or Outlook Preview from email.
- Put your image in a Word document to print.
- Export your Word Doc as a .PDF for best results with no changes to print setup.
- Turn the printer on.
- Plug in the USB cable to your laptop.
- You will be prompted to download the HP SMART application to get full access for correct printing. Yes, you should do this!
- Check paper type on digital screen on top of DesignJet:
- roll - right now this is our only option, the single sheets aren’t loading well. If you want a 11x17 color print, print to the office Canon 5850.
- Open file in Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Select Print
- Choose HP DesignJet T210
- Expand Printer Properties to open a new Dialogue Box.
- Select the tab for Paper/Quality, and then Document Size from Dropdown menu. See preview screen to make sure it fills the screen.
- SuperC/A2 = 17x22, a ratio of 8.5x11, best quality for upsizing!
- ArchC – 18x24
- ArchD – 24x36
- Select Layout/Output on the next tab
across the top, change the resizing options:- Actual Size
- Fit to <Arch B, ArchC, ArchD, or SuperB/A3 =Document Size>
- Click Show Preview before Printing if you can
- Look at Preview to make sure the image takes up the entire page. You might need to say “fit” or “200%” to the image.
- Hit Print and watch for the feed to come out. Don’t have items in front of the output area or it may jam the big printer.

To print, you will need to create the file in PDF or DOC.
It is simple to up-size a PDF.
It will be easiest and look best to create a DOC file in MS Word. Open the file and set the size. Once you have done the steps above, you will have options to include all sizes.

Attach the USB to your laptop so it can recognize the printer.
It will take a minute, then go to the Start Menu and Type "Printers and Scanners"
Once it shows up, tell it to download the app. "HP SMART"
This will take 3-4 minutes.
When it's finished Downloading, accept all check boxes.
Skip the login to try and connect devices, but CHOOSE Finish Setup.
Last two steps, don't connect to HP online, but you could allow updates to be pushed.
