Kevin Carter:Coach Carter is in his 19th year of teaching and 23rd year of coaching. He has a BA in History and a MA in Educational Leadership. He is a Google Certified Teacher, and a former overseas Athletic Director. He has traveled to over 30 countries and considers it his personal hobby. His classroom philosophy is to have fun while learning!

Shannon Rybarczyk: Ms. Rybarczyk is originally from Salisbury, NC and received her Bachelor's degree in History from North Carolina State University. She also has a Masters in Library Science from North Carolina Central University. She is married and has two wonderful children, Megan and Will.

Greg Simmons: Mr. Simmons is from Romeo Michigan and moved to North Carolina in the summer of 1999. He has a BA from Harding University. He has a MA in Executive leadership with a Principal License from Gardner-Webb University.He has been teaching since 1999. He lives In Pinehurst NC and has been married for 18 years with 2 boys attending Apex Friendship Middle school and High school. His biggest interests involve sports and sports training and anything American History.

What is the difference between American History I and American History II?
American History I covers the time period between colonization of the United States until after the Civil War. American History II begins with the Gilded Age (late 1800's) and ends with the present day.
Grading Policies and Procedures:
Quarter grades will be determined on a percentage basis and will be assigned according to the Wake County Grading Scale. Point values will vary according to the magnitude of the assignment. Tests, quizzes, weekly pop quizzes, projects, homework, daily classroom activities and class participation will comprise your grade. Grades will be posted on the server in a timely manner. The grade distribution for the Social Studies Department will be the following:
Honors: Homework: 15% Tests/Projects: 40% Academic: Homework: 15% Tests/Projects: 35%
Classwork: 15% Quizzes: 30% Classwork: 20% Quizzes: 30%
What will be the difference in Honors and Academic?: The expectations for both groups of students will be high. Both groups of students will obviously participate in the same lessons and receive and analyze the same information. Honors students will have different expectations in regards to projects (length and complexity) and assessments (different and more challenging questions) and on some homework assignments.
What to do about make up work?
If you miss class, make-up work is your responsibility. Check on our online classroom for missing work. If assignments aren’t downloadable, check the location in the room where extra copies of assignments are kept. If you need help finding your missing work, it is your responsibility to ask.
