Second grade is such an exciting time! I truly believe that every child is going to have a wonderful year. We will strive to make our classroom a warm, language rich and inviting environment for EVERY child who enters our space. Our students will be engaged and actively involved throughout the day. I believe that routines are important and we will follow a daily schedule that is predictable and expected for all students.

I consider our classroom to be a community of learners. Every effort is made to ensure that each child feels comfortable and confident in second grade. We utilize the philosophies of a positive behavior approach to classroom discipline: we focus on emphasizing the things students are doing right and provide positive language and guidance where needed. I hold high expectations for behavior choices and encourage kindness, generosity and respect in our learning space.

I believe in equity, not fairness across the board. Each student is unique and has unique needs; therefore, each child's needs will be met in our space according to what they need to grow, learn and develop into happy, productive students.

In our classroom, we encourage independence. One of our goals is to help the students become responsible for their choices, actions, belongings, and learning. We have so much fun exploring and learning together! I cannot wait to see how much our students will grow and change this year.

You were your child’s first teacher, showing them the ways of the world from the very beginning. You still play an important role in their education this year. Your support, dedication, understanding, and flexibility will truly make this year one full of memories and accomplishments. Thanks for all you do and for allowing me to work with your child.
