My name is April Beddingfield and I have the honor of being your child’s second grade teacher for the 2021-2022 school year at Bryan Road Elementary. I am hoping for a much smoother 21/22 school year compared to last year! I feel confident that if we work together as a school family, we can offer great learning experiences to all of our students. I have 26 years of experience in education. I helped to open Bryan Road in 2018 and was a CCR special education teacher for two years. Since I live in Apex and was hoping to work closer to home, I moved to a different school and taught first grade last school year. I greatly missed the leadership and wonderful staff here at Bryan Rd so, I'm back! I taught Kindergarten at Penny Rd Elem from 2013-2018 and was recognized in 2015 with a WCPSS Excellence Award. I have also taught second and third grade and directed a licensed preschool in Cary while my daughters were young. I truly believe that all children deserve the opportunity to be in a school environment where they feel loved, respected and encouraged to do their best. I have high expectations both academically and socially for my students and I feel that if I expect the best a child has to offer, they give me the best they have! My goal is to create a passion for learning and love for school that lasts a lifetime.
I grew up in northern North Carolina around the Lake Gaston area. I attended the University of NC at Wilmington and received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I hold certifications in regular education and Cross Categorical Resource special education. I live in Apex with my husband and youngest daughter Kara. She is a senior at Apex Friendship High and works at Chick-Fil-A. Kailyn is 20, attends UNCW and is majoring in special education. We have a sweet Maltese-Japanese Chin dog named Bella who loves to go for car rides!
