Position Title: Part Time Food Shelf Coordinator
Reports To: Board of Directors
Salary: $15-$20 per hour; approximately 15-20 hours per week
Salary will be commensurate with experience
Position Summary: The food shelf coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of the food shelf and resources that are available to all clients as they relate to the agency’s mission.
This position requires skilled communication with volunteers and clients, the ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere and a passion for problem solving. This position requires computer work, flexibility in hours, and the ability to help others while keeping confidentiality, ordering, inventory control and compassion.
Responsibility and Duties:
Operations:
· Oversight of hours of operation
· Oversight of inventory and stocking of shelves.
· Ordering or otherwise securing food to maintain inventory.
· Meeting or arranging for pickup of other donations.
· Ensure safe food storage and sanitation procedures are implemented and followed consistently.
Administrative Duties:
· Maintaining accurate food shelf data and statistics.
· Completing and filing monthly statistical reports to Second Harvest Heartland.
· Completing and filing necessary documents for grants the food shelf has received.
· Assists the Board with the writing and submitting of grants as needed.
· Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
· Attend the meetings of and report to the Board of Directors
· Assure that confidentiality is maintained in accordance with board policy
Marketing/Community:
· Develop and maintain positive community relationships with existing businesses, organizations, and churches.
· Attend meeting and other community events to inform community members of services and to learn more about individual community needs.
· Keep the community informed about our mission and operations through phone calls, website, Facebook, radio, and newspaper.
· Collaborates with the Board in the development and implementation of annual fundraising plans; oversees fundraising events and programs.
Education and Experience
· Ability to work independently and with little supervision
· Excellent oral and written communication skills including public presentations
· Current valid MN driver’s license and automobile insurance
· Ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential matters
· Ability to plan, direct and review the work of volunteers with confidence and clarity
Proficiency in email, word processing and social media communications
· High attention to detail and flexible in nature
· Comfortable working with non-English speaking and culturally diverse clients. Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
