Washington Elementary had an eventful and celebratory Black History Month. The events included Movie Night (Soul), Literacy Mondays and Assembly, a Black History Month Celebration and Paint Night.

After the first Literacy Monday, the West African Music & Dance Ensemble (Ensemble), performed the Kpanlogo which is an urban youth drumming and dance originating from Ghana. The Ensemble also provided a mini dance lesson for students and teachers.

The Black History Month Celebration served as the main event. Students from each grade performed and the audience was treated with special performances by the Zeta Phi Beta Inc. sorority, a piano solo from Lola Felder (3rd grade) and a praise dance from Rylei Barnes (4th grade).
