Carpenters Joint Apprentice Program May 3rd @ 9:05 am

They have commercial construction apprenticeships that lead to union jobs.  Most of the people employed by the foreman of for the school construction went through this program.

SU Shore Scholarship Event - All Salisbury University Accepted Seniors need to review!

SU is coming on 2/23/23 at 1:30 outside the cafeteria to celebrate your acceptance to Salisbury University.  Grab some Chick-fil-A with the SU Admissions staff at the event.  They will raffle off one $1,000 Shore Scholarship to a Mardela senior in attendance at this event, along with giving away SU gear and having Sammy the Sea Gull for pictures.  You must be present to win!  Please see the email you got from SU and RSVP immediately.  This is a student only event.

Mark your calendars!  Wicomico Public Schools presents “Big Plans Night” on Tuesday, March 14 at James M. Bennett High School from 5:30 -7:30 pm.  At this event, families will have the opportunity to plan for NOW, plan for the SUMMER and plan for the FUTURE.  Information will be  presented  for all age groups.

We hope you will join us to participate in the following:               

1) Plans For NOW:  Community Connections (All Grade Levels)

Community agencies and organizations will  provide information about services they

offer families.

2) Plans for the SUMMER:  Summer Engagement Expo  (All Grade Levels)

Are you looking for fun, engaging activities for your child this summer?

Community organizations that offer summer activities will have a table in the JMB cafeteria. Stop by to pick up brochures and ask questions.                               

3) Plans for the FUTURE:  College Fair  (Middle & High School)

Middle & high school families are invited to attend the College Fair to learn more about the college admissions process, information about academic programs, student life, athletics, and fine & performing

arts.  Information will also be available about the CTE & VPA programs.  Guidance Counselors will be available to answer questions about scheduling classes, AP & Dual Enrollment and graduation requirements.

One portion of this event is a College Fair that will provide you with information about the college admissions process and college life by talking to admissions counselors from different colleges and universities.  If you are interested in attending the College Fair, we encourage you to use time during FLEX to preregister at www.StriveFair.com   (The Event you will be attending:  3/14/23 Wicomico Public Schools) so that you can get a barcode for the college fair. At the College Fair, you will show your barcode on your phone to colleges that you may be interested in.  They will scan it and send you more information about their schools. It’s free and saves you time. After the College Fair, you will receive an email report with info on the colleges that scanned your barcode.

READY! SET! APPLY!  Senior SCHOLARSHIP Meeting - 2/16 flex in cafe

Seniors - scholarship season is getting ready to go full force.  Let's take a class period to discuss and get ready.  I encourage you to bring your laptop and a binder.  We will look at how to pull all the community scholarship, creating an electronic scholarship file and a paper scholarship binder.  I will have a paper copy of your updated mid-year transcript for you that day.  Mrs. Vogel will be emailing you an electronic copy this week to have.  Please use that updated cumulative gpa for your scholarships.  

PROM Eligibility - Student AND guest 

Students & GUESTS from any school must meet this requirement: 

• Must have a 2.0 in order to attend prom (that will be their 3rd marking term report cards – they will not have the opportunity to pull grades up for a mid-term check based on when prom falls this year – 4/29)

• No OSS during semester 2

SENIOR MEETING: 10/4/22 during FLEX in cafeteria 

Topic: Starting the College Application Process

Any senior may attend if interested in the topic.  Please let your flex teacher know if you plan on attending; I will take attendance and let them know you were there.  I have made them aware of this meeting opportunity.  Bring your laptops, so you can interact with Naviance as we talk about it.  If you come late to flex from CTE please join us when you get here.

***If you cannot due to CTE or Wor-Wic, then come see me anytime that day to talk about it or email me to schedule a set appointment for us to meet.  

We will also be having an application day - 10/5/22  Remember if you have a free class and want to work on applications in my office - please feel free.  Get your teacher to call and if I am available, you are welcome.
