SU is coming on 2/23/23 at 1:30 outside the cafeteria to celebrate your acceptance to Salisbury University. Grab some Chick-fil-A with the SU Admissions staff at the event. They will raffle off one $1,000 Shore Scholarship to a Mardela senior in attendance at this event, along with giving away SU gear and having Sammy the Sea Gull for pictures. arts. Information will also be available about the CTE & VPA programs. Guidance Counselors will be available to answer questions about scheduling classes, AP & Dual Enrollment and graduation requirements.
One portion of this event is a College Fair that will provide you with information about the college admissions process and college life by talking to admissions counselors from different colleges and universities. If you are interested in attending the College Fair, we encourage you to use time during FLEX to preregister at www.StriveFair.com (The Event you will be attending: 3/14/23 Wicomico Public Schools) so that you can get a barcode for the college fair. At the College Fair, you will show your barcode on your phone to colleges that you may be interested in. They will scan it and send you more information about their schools. It’s free and saves you time. After the College Fair, you will receive an email report with info on the colleges that scanned your barcode.

The Seidel School of Education at Salisbury University is hosting its inaugural “Be an Education Major Day” on the morning of Friday, March 17th. Interested students may visit our campus, learn from professors, and meet current education majors.

JA Inspire for Hire will provide high school students and local community members the opportunity to learn about local businesses and employment opportunities available to them. This portion of Inspire will be hosted on Tuesday, March 14th from 5:30-7:30 pm.
There is no admission fee or RSVP required. We are simply trying to spread the word to our local students and their parents/guardians, as this is an amazing opportunity to engage with several local employers in a variety of industries.
Seniors - scholarship season is getting ready to go full force. Let's take a class period to discuss and get ready. I encourage you to bring your laptop and a binder. We will look at how to pull all the community scholarship, creating an electronic scholarship file and a paper scholarship binder. I will have a paper copy of your updated mid-year transcript for you that day. Mrs. Vogel will be emailing you an electronic copy this week to have. Please use that updated cumulative gpa for your scholarships.
Important March 1st calendar note for all Mardela Middle and High students and families: SAT testing in school for students in 11th Grade, asynchronous learning day for all other Mardela students
On Wednesday, March 1st, all 11th-Grade students will take the SAT in school as part of assessing readiness for college and career. There is no cost to the student for taking this test. All 11th-Grade students should plan to arrive at school no later than 7:35 a.m. that day, and must be at their assigned testing room by 7:45 a.m.
Students taking the SAT without accommodations will finish at approximately 12:45 p.m., with county transportation provided as usual for students who use it. Students taking the SAT with accommodations will spend longer on the test, and will be dismissed at 2:45 p.m., with transportation provided as usual. Bag lunches will provided for all students taking the SAT at the close of the assessment.
For all other Mardela students, Wednesday, March 1st will be an asynchronous day of learning. Students must check in online for each class to be counted as present and will work remotely on graded assignments, following expectations for the day as indicated at the school level and in Google Classrooms for each class.
