Congratulations to the class of 2022! Commencement will be held on June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. Everyone must have a ticket to attend. If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch the livestreamed event by visiting www.youtube.com/wicomicoschools.
The image below gives a link and QR code where you can order cap and gown class photos, the career photo and photos from graduation.
Both class photos will be under the graduation ceremony.
Dress Casual
*** STUDENTS MUST BE ON TIME & ATTEND ALL OF PRACTICE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES.
Graduates should arrive at the Civic Center by 6:45 to line up. There will be time for pictures after the ceremony.
Clothing: Yellow gowns: Please wear a light-colored dress or skirt or dress pants and blouse (with no pattern since it will be seen through the gown), white dress shoes (which can include dressy sandals) but no flip flops or tennis shoes
Green Gowns: Please wear a light-colored dress shirt, tie, dark dress pants, dark socks, and dark dress shoes under your gown. No blue jeans, flip flops or tennis shoes.
Mortarboards (graduation caps) are to be worn flat on your head not resting on the back of your head. At the beginning of the ceremony tassels are on the right; when prompted to do so during the ceremony, students will move the tassels to the left. DO NOT DECORATE!!! You will not be permitted to wear a decorated cap.
Cords/Stoles approved by WCBOE that can be worn: NHS Stole, NHS cord, Spanish NHS Cord, Mu Alpha Theta Cord, CTE Technical Honor Society Cord, Service Learning Hours Cord, Seal of Biliteracy Medal, Armed Services stole for students already enlisted (if provided by your recruiter). No additional tassels or pins can be added. No additional stoles or cords can be worn even if given to you by one of those organizations or an outside organization.
All caps, gowns and tassels are to be worn exactly the way you received them from Jostens. Do not add anything to them!

NO CELL PHONES. Please remind your guests to turn off their phones.
GUESTS: Civic Center doors will open for guests at 6:45. The last admittance will be at 7:25. Once the commencement ceremony begins no one will be admitted. All guests should plan to arrive and be in their seats by 7:25. Please remember to turn your cell phones off.
TICKETS: Each graduate will receive 10 tickets for Commencement. Because young children tend to get bored, it is suggested that they be left at home. However, if you expect to bring a baby or toddler you will need to have a ticket for him/her, even if they will be sitting on your lap. A ticket is required for each person attending; this is per the fire code. If you need additional tickets for Commencement, you will need to put the request in writing to Mrs. Hastings for consideration at lhastin@wcboe.org
DIPLOMAS: You will get a diploma cover during the ceremony. You will pick up your actual diploma in your senior envelope and senior class flower in the Flanders room in the Civic Center. We will show you where this room is the day of graduation practice.
PLEASE NOTE: Graduates will not receive tickets if they have any outstanding financial obligations. Tickets will be handed out at senior check-out 5/24/22 after the senior’s last class – again if no fines are due and a working computer with cord is turned in, along with any other school owned materials.
