A-TEX is an exploratory opportunity for students who are considering enrollment into the CTE program. this program is offered to 9th and 10th grade students.
A-TEX APPLIED TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATION I
A-TEX I - 5213 Grades 9-10
1/2 credit technology education
The course consists of classroom and laboratory experiences.
Students choose 4 career areas to explore over the course
Interest areas include: auto technology, business, carpentry, early childhood education, collision repair, CISCO Networking Academy, criminal justice, culinary arts, electricity, heating and air conditioning, high performance manufacturing, horticulture, masonry, and welding.
At the end of the first course, students will select one of the four areas to concentrate on for successful completion of a Maryland Approved CTE Completer Program.
A-TEX APPLIED TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATION II
A-TEX II-5214 Grades 9-10 :
1/2 credit technology education
A-TEX II is scheduled after completion of A-TEX I.
Students choose 1 career area from the 4 they already participated in for A-TEX I and explore deeper over the course
Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides high school and community college students an opportunity to pursue a sequential technical and academic program of study leading to advancement in career field. High school CTE programs are designed into clusters to give students the opportunity to transition smoothly into further education or postsecondary education to earn college credit and/or industry credentials in a career field of interest.
The mission of Career & Technical Education is to provide all students with educational opportunities through balanced and diversified career and technical education programs. The programs are designed to increase knowledge, to develop skills, and to refine attitudes necessary to prepare students for a place in the labor force or for further education.
Transportation to Parkside High School CTE is provided through shuttles at Mardela. Students wishing to drive themselves can request permission through the Travel Request Form.
