You are going to create a soundtrack for a short film.
Instructions:
Use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Soundtrap, BandLab or Garageband as your production method. You will work individually.
You will experiment with using the loops and samples in the software and may choose to input some of your own ideas. Think of this like a Musical Collage where you combine ideas to create a cohearant sense of mood/tone/style to go with the video.
Think about what is happening in the video and how you will reinforce the images through your music. Consider tension and release, recurring ideas (melody), expression and the mood of the clip. Your piece should have a clear mood or tone.
Explore how you can enhance your music using effects (like reverb, delay, distortion) etc. Sound effects are great, but they are not music - add these as an extra element after you have created your soundtrack.
You will combine your music and the video using software - your teacher will show you how to do this.
Key tip:
Think about the mood/emotion you wish to convey through your music in your clip. This will help you decide on the style or genre of your music. You must choose this before you begin. This will help you to make decisions about the kind of musical material you use.
Below are the clips you will use - watch each one and decide which one you will create a soundtrack for:
