October 2025
After securing approval from the Village of Jackson Board on the rezoning application, certified survey map, and conditional use permit for the new Jackson Elementary School, the next steps are very important to the construction of the school.
In November 2025, the district construction manager, Findorff, will open bidding on the project. This will continue through January 2026. The start of construction is expected for spring 2026, with the potential for some demolition of old structures on the site prior to that.
Design: A west-facing building for optimal visibility from the outside and inside, the new Jackson Elementary School design also includes a "center spine" connecting the secure main and staff entrances. Details of the design were presented at the October 13 West Bend School Board meeting. Features of the building include:
Two instructional wings, with the west wing being one level and featuring kindergarten and first grades, and the east wing featuring two levels with grades 2-5.
An outdoor courtyard between the wings with a learning space and small playground.
A library on the first floor in the center of the building.
A gymnasium adjacent to a cafeteria on the south side of the building, close to parking for ease of community use.
Public access from Jackson Drive consists of a one-way traffic lane that includes separate student drop-off and pick-up areas located along the west side of the school that is accessible from Jackson Drive.
Primary access for the public will be from Jackson Drive, and the other access point will be from Spruce Street to the east.
A playground and grassy play area on the south side of the building.
The Jackson Elementary campus. Jackson Drive is on the left (west) and Spruce Street is on the right (east).
Looking east at the front of the school from Jackson Drive.
The front entrance of the school from the family drop-off and pick-up area.
The back staff entrance, which faces east and includes a staff parking lot. This is also where buses will drop-off and pick-up students.
The courtyard, looking south, located between the two academic wings.
