The West Bend School District moved the timeline of projects at Green Tree and McLane Elementary Schools ahead by one year. During summer 2025, a number of projects were completed at both schools. In addition, a few projects will extend into the fall and others will take place in summer 2026.
Accomplishments in summer 2025 at Green Tree Elementary:
Relocated the main office to create a secure entry sequence, larger health room, and offices.
Carefully removed and relayed brick moved to install new doors/windows and support beams for secure entrance sequence.
Developed approximately 4500 square feet for new office space, secure entrance, support services spaces for students/staff, expanded nurses space.
Installed new electrical wiring, LED light fixtures, and energy-saving sensors/dimmers; added low-voltage wiring for updated office security systems.
Completed ADA restroom updates in kindergarten and early learning areas; reinstalled lockers after necessary mechanical work and concrete infills.
Reconfigured classrooms to office space and old office repurposing - 10 spaces now configured into 20 updated spaces for students and staff.
Replaced hallway flooring in all older areas of the school.
Replaced the fire alarm system, which was installed, tested and inspected.
Demolished and installed 26 window openings in the original building sections, with final caulking and trim painting to be complete over the next two weeks.
Remodeled existing single and common bathrooms for ADA accessibility. Bathroom remodels included complete demolition, cutting open the flooring for new waste pipe, new water service piping, concrete infills, new framing of bathroom walls, installation of 36 new fixtures, new tiling, and wiring.
Replaced controls and in-ceiling equipment for HVAC in preparation for full replacement of air handling unit and system controls during winter break.
Prepared space for a generator and conduit with interior panels installed.
Accomplished in summer 2025 at McLane Elementary:
Renovated classrooms to create a secure entry sequence, larger health room, and offices.
Replaced the fire alarm system, which was installed, tested, and inspected.
Replaced more than 90 windows (some original), prioritizing learning spaces; updated ceilings, soffits, and HVAC piping to accommodate installations.
Remodeled basement/lower level bathrooms for ADA accessibility including new plumbing, fixtures, flooring, partitions, and service lines.
Replaced fire doors and hardware.
Installed 75 new HVAC sensors/thermostats with centralized computer-based controls for efficiency.
Matched new tile flooring to original building style for consistency and future flexibility.
Added new ventilation systems for restrooms and HVAC equipment for renovated office, health room area, Early Learning room, and lower-level restrooms.
