During this closure, the Office of Special Services will continue to provide support to students, families, and district staff members regarding our most vulnerable population of students.

DUTIES

  • Cross check IEPDirect and SEMI for frequency and duration of services
  • Input information into shared Google Sheet of anticipation of services missed
  • Provide compensatory sessions as applicable
  • Email parents (or provide packets with) suggested activities to maintain skills

DUTIES

  • Complete writing reports for students already tested
  • Reschedule Meetings as necessary
  • Complete social history evaluations via phone
  • Continue working on IEPs
  • Input progress monitoring
  • Review NJSLA and DLM students on caseload for accuracy and appropriate accommodations



School Nurses

DUTIES

  • Prepare for all essential medication to be given back to parents for home-use if necessary
  • Available via email for any consultations or questions
  • Contact parents of students who take medication to determine if medication is needed for home
  • Head Nurse collects medication from schools to distribute to families in the case of an emergency
  • Participate in the Distance Learning Professional Development activities
  • Complete weekly reflection form and submit to building administrators on Friday each week; this is how attendance will be verified.



School Counselors

DUTIES

  • Available to students and parents via email and/or Google Hangout
  • Check in with families that need supports
  • Complete all necessary documents in 504Direct to ensure compliance
  • Ongoing: Complete weekly reflection form & communication log and submit to building administrators on Friday each week.


Family Liaison & SAC

DUTIES

  • Available to students and parents via email
  • Ensure students on home instruction have access to assignments

Special Education Teachers

DUTIES

  • Use existing platforms to disseminate differentiated lessons, information, and assignments
  • Provide modified and broken down directions to families
  • Provide supports to parents and students as needed
  • Send home QR Codes and N2Y log-in information
  • Send home Healthy Relationships information (if applicable)

Special Education Paras & Crisis Interventionists

DUTIES

  • Participate in the Distance Learning Professional Development activities
  • Complete weekly reflection form and submit to building administrators on Friday each week; this is how attendance will be verified.
  • 3, 6 and 7 hour aides and Crisis Interventionists - Complete all PD in its entirety
