Outdoor First Aid
Purpose of trip:
For students to learn about first aid issues in the outdoors. To become comfortable providing first aid to those in need. To gain the Outdoor First Aid qualification
An overview of the course:
The Outdoor First aid course is an intense two night/two and a half day course which uses a mixture of theory, practical practice, and scenarios. The instructor contracted to lead this course has extensive experience in advanced paramedicine, tactical medicine, and international disaster medical response. Generally, the course will begin with planning, briefing and some paperwork on the first day. The course continues the next morning from about 8am until about 8pm. This day will have many scenarios and debriefing sessions so that students get the most out of the course. The third day is also an early start and will be focused on filling any gaps of knowledge and to assess any students not already assessed. We will depart after lunch some time, after all gear is put away, and the area inspected for rubbish.
