Medical information obtained and understood by trip leader. Students to have their medications on hand

Encourage challenge by choice

Instructors/teachers to have sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to lead the trip

Students complete the course in pairs, each pair issued with a map (and know how to read it). Students are issued

the teachers cell phone number to contact in case of emergency

Follow walking route plan, cross at pedestrian crossing lights, students to act sensibly around traffic

Treat all public with respect, give suspicious characters a wide berth and notify the teacher

Students to stay in control at all times to reduce the risk of slipping and injuring themselves

Brief students on the need for having decent running shoes/trainers

Procedures to deal with emergency

Stabilise patient, call for an ambulance, apply first aid


Student to call/text teacher, stay put and wait to be found
