Whether you are a retiring teacher, graduating senior, or just moving on from Waynflete, this page provides technology guidance for how you will close your accounts and turn in your devices. See the information below for how to tidy up your Waynflete email, Google Drive, and/or your devices.
Your various Waynflete accounts will be discontinued. This includes Google Workspace for Education (Drive, Docs, Slides, etc), @waynflete.org email, and Veracross. See below for more information about how to handle your data in these accounts.
We STRONGLY encourage you to identify any other personal accounts that use your @waynflete.org email address (including uses as alternate or recovery email addresses) and to change those email addresses.
Contact technology@waynflete.org or Page (x1320), Erik (x1315), or Innocent (x1312) if you have questions.
Email will be deactivated on AUGUST 1st
Return any borrowed laptops and iPads (INCLUDING power adapters) by JUNE 7th
Turn all devices (INCLUDING power adapters) by JUNE 30th
Email will be deactivated on AUGUST 15th
We will leave your account active until August 15th so you are able to transition to a new account. Please put a bounce-back message (Vacation Responder) on your account to let people know that you will no longer be using the account. We will deactivate your e-mail account on August 15th unless you have talked to Page about getting an extension.
There are three options for moving your school "Google" data:
You can copy your data from your school account to a personal Google account.
Allows you to copy email and documents in your Drive to a personal Google account. Directions for this option can be found here.
Download your data using Google Takeout.
Allows you to download larger amounts and various types of content at the same time (e.g., multiple Google Drive files, Gmail, Calendar events).
When downloading data from Google Drive, you will need to choose the file type. For example, you can download Google Docs as Microsoft Word files and Google Sheets as Microsoft Excel files.
Manually download or copy data
Download individual files from Google Drive to your new device
Save individual emails as PDF files OR forward them to another email account
Please return your iPad and/or laptop to Page before leaving campus for the last time. If you need extra time to copy your files onto another machine, that is fine. Before turning it in, make sure you disable your passcode (on iPad) and LOGOUT of iCloud and/or your Apple ID account. We will erase all data from your devices. Please plan to turn in your device by the end of June 30th.
We’re often asked if departing employees can purchase their equipment. We depreciate equipment over a 4-5 year term, so the price you pay will be based on its original cost to the school, not current market values (although you’ll probably find that our pricing is slightly below the current used market). If you’re interested in purchasing your laptop or iPad, feel free to send me the sticker number for the devices and I can tell you how old the machines are and what their cost will be. As with the retirees, all site licensed software (Microsoft Office) will be removed from the computer before ownership is passed to you.
