Rising Leaders: My Takeaways from the MEMSPA Workshop

This week, I had the opportunity to attend Rising Leaders: A Workshop for Aspiring Principals, hosted by Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA). It was an inspiring and insightful experience, providing a deeper look into leadership in education and what it truly means to step into an administrative role. The workshop focused on key areas such as leadership development, building strong school cultures, and the importance of relationships in effective school leadership.

One of my biggest takeaways was the emphasis on leading with purpose and vision. Great school leaders don’t just manage—they inspire, collaborate, and create environments where both students and teachers thrive. Another key lesson was the importance of mentorship and continuous growth. Hearing from experienced administrators reinforced that leadership is a journey of learning, adapting, and supporting others. I walked away with a renewed perspective on how strong leadership shapes a school’s success and a better understanding of the steps I can take to grow in my own leadership journey. This workshop was an invaluable experience, and I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned in my current role while keeping my future leadership goals in mind!
