Highlights
Master of Arts in Educational Technology
A highlight of the MAET program is the overseas summer cohort in Galway, Ireland, at the University of Galway. This immersive experience combines academic rigor with cultural exploration. Participating in the Galway cohort broadened my global perspective on education and allowed me to interact with international peers, gaining insights into diverse educational practices.
The Reeves Scholars Program (RSP) is a reciprocal exchange between future teachers at Michigan State University (MSU) in the United States and at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana. It offered a close-knit learning community and international travel experiences that prepared me to be an open-minded, community-engaged, and globally-oriented leader while strengthening my cross-cultural competence in and beyond my classroom.
During my time engaging in the Urban Immersion Fellowship Program, I spent six-weeks working with children and families of Detroit, where I utilized a virtual literacy platform to deliver intensive instruction.
I have also started News Crew, Winans' broadcasting club which involves students in creating and managing media content, such as morning announcements, videos for school events, and school news programs. Members learn to operate cameras, microphones, and editing software, providing technical support during live events and producing creative projects like short films or podcasts. The club helps students develop skills in public speaking, journalism, and media production, while keeping the school community informed and engaged. Click the flyer to view some of the videos created! To extend this learning, students also participated in a field trip to WLNS, where they observed live news production and had the opportunity to record announcements for the following day.
