Coaching for Growth: Turning Conversations into Catalysts
Coaching for Growth: Turning Conversations into Catalysts
I recently completed MSU’s Educational Coaching Foundations Course, which deepened my understanding of effective coaching strategies to support instructional growth and student achievement. This course focused on the mediational coaching model, emphasizing the importance of building relational trust, active listening, and fostering reflective thinking through powerful coaching conversations.
Key takeaways include mastering the Pause, Paraphrase, Pose-a-Question (PPP) technique, learning how to provide constructive feedback that promotes self-reflection, and understanding when and how to challenge assessments to support educator development.
Moving forward, I plan to apply these coaching strategies in my professional practice by enhancing my communication with colleagues, using active listening techniques, and posing thoughtful questions that encourage reflection and growth. Additionally, I aim to create a more supportive and reflective environment for both students and fellow educators, fostering continuous improvement and collaboration.
