Software Updates

Why they're so important!

Think of your iPad like a recipe - in order for everything to taste right, you have to make sure you put the right ingredients in. Your iPad is the same way, if you don't do the right things, it's not going to work like it's supposed to. If your apps update, but you haven't updated your software, the apps aren't going to work correctly, and vise versa.

It's really easy to update your iPad; you can even do it right before you go to bed and let it run while you sleep! Below is a guide on how to make sure your device and apps are up to date and functioning correctly.

Select Settings

You should already be on 1) General, now select 2) Software Update

Now you'll either see an update, and be given an option to download and install (follow the prompts) or you will see a screen that looks like this.....(in which case you're all good) see the next step when you're finished

Next you'll want to check your app updates....go to the Apple App Store

Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Updates"

Now you should see a screen of past updates, and any current updates if available. If all your apps are updated, you will only see "open" buttons like this (otherwise they will say "update")...

Note: If an app you're using is from the School District of Waukesha (paid apps like Notability, Book Creator, etc) you will need to make sure you update it through the Self Service app on the home screen. (To do this, just tap on the app in Self Service and tap "reinstall")
