MR. JORGENSEN

My name is Nathan Jorgensen and I am a Theatre & Speech teacher at Waukee High School!

I am in my eleventh year as a teacher within the Waukee School District! I am a graduate from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University (Masters) and the University of Northern Iowa (undergraduate) where I spent my time in the classroom studying speech and theatre. I was fortunate enough to student teach within the Waukee Community School District where I gained a firm grasp of the guiding principles and standards that drive our educational practices.

I grew up in Des Moines where I attended school in the Johnston Community School District. I was active in band, choir, show choir, and theatre at Johnston. I also participated in theatre at the Des Moines Community Playhouse.

At Waukee, I direct the Fall Play and Spring Musical at the high school. I also serve as the Troupe Director for Waukee's Chapter of International Thespian Society, Troupe #1451. In addition, I coach a variety of events for Waukee's IHSSA Large Group and Individual Speech Teams.

Within the community, I serve as a director, stage manager, and actor. I am currently serving as the Chapter Director for Iowa Thespians from 2025-2029. I am a Resident Artist Company Member with Iowa Stage.  And I am a member of the education staff at the Des Moines Community Playhouse.

I couldn’t be more excited to continue teaching in a district with a strong focus on student success! I’m looking forward to an amazing year!
