Fire Drill

Purpose

Practice getting out of WIS safely and securely.

1. Remain Calm

2. Remain Quiet

Follow your teachers instructions. You need to be able to hear in case something changes!

3. Follow Instructions

Follow the instructions your teacher gives you. If there is a real fire, they may be different from a drill.

(Go over with students so they are aware of expectations)

Steps During Drill

1. Turn off lights and exit class in an organized line. Be sure to shut the door.

Any doorstops need to be moved out of the way.

2. Walk down the hallway towards the EMERGENCY EXIT door.

3. West Side

Teachers and students need to line up on THE GRASS in a straight line facing away from school.

Teachers - you may want to designate a student to be the "line leader."

4. East Side

Teachers and students need to line up ACROSS THE SIDEWALK in a straight line facing away from school.

Teachers - you may want to designate a student to be the "line leader."

5. Stand outside appropriately, following the same rules you would while walking in the HALL

6. Wait until you get the ALL CLEAR before coming in the building

7. Reminders

Go out the EXIT nearest you!

Do not go through the Purple Doors once they shut!
