How do I apply for college?
By going to the college website, finding the Admissions tab, and reading the application procedure for that college.
By filling out an application on Common App, selecting your schools, then submitting the application.
By going to CFNC.org, creating an account and applying there.
***Note-these are only NC schools and you will also need to complete Residency Determination (RDS)
How do I set up my Common App account
Go to commonapp.org. Click "Create an Account'' in the upper right corner. Follow the prompts. In the Help section, there are tons of videos and documents that have instructions for each section, complete with screenshots.
What do I put in Common App for GPA scale?
List the scale as 4.0 and select "weighted"
What do I select for Class Rank?
WHS/WIA no longer recognizes class rank. Select "None" for questions about how the school reports class rank
What is our class size?
Class of 2025 is 367 students, WHS and WIA combined
How do I get transcripts sent to colleges?
If you apply through Common App, put in your counselor's email in the "FERPA and Recommenders" tab. Your counselor will see the request and submit it electronically. You DO NOT need to submit a separate transcript request for the schools you apply to through Common App. Counselors can also see the due date for your information and we will make sure it is submitted on time.

2. Transcripts for non-Common App schools must be requested by clicking on this link. Please make sure to have the email address or mailing address
for the college admissions office of where you intend to send. Electronic is definitely the fastest way to send your transcript if your college will accept
it through email. Otherwise, please provide a mailing address and we will mail the transcript for you.
3. If your school needs us to upload your transcript a different way, please reach out to your counselor.
How do colleges get a copy of my Caldwell transcript?
If you have taken Caldwell classes, you MUST request a copy of your Caldwell transcript from Caldwell. You can find the link here for requesting your Caldwell Transcript, please note there is a $5.00 fee associated with each request.
What about my FINAL transcript?
When the year is over and all grades are in, students will submit final transcripts to in-state schools via CFNC.org. We will submit transcripts to out-of-state schools. It will be ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that you complete the Senior Exit Survey near the end of the year. If you are planning to go to an out-of-state school, we will send your final transcript to the school you list on the exit survey. If you don't respond to the survey, your information will not be sent.
What are some rules to follow about applying Early Decision?
In most cases, you can only apply ED to one college. If you apply in Common App, there is an Early Decision Agreement that you must talk to your School Counselor about. When you apply ED to a college, if you are accepted, you must withdraw all other applications and attend that university unless it is financially impossible.
Can I submit my application in Common App before teachers submit their recommendations?

Go to the grades tab in Infinite Campus to see your GPA as of June 2024.
What if I need an electronic copy of my transcript
When you request your transcript, ask for an email copy. You will receive an email with a link to a pdf version of the transcript that you can download and keep for various tasks. It may come in useful during scholarship applications, etc.
How do I send a copy of my SAT/ACT scores to colleges?
For ACT, go to ACT.org. Create an account. You will need your ACT ID (which you can get from Student Services) and the test date. Log in to the account and request a copy of your scores be sent to the college to which you are applying
For SAT, go to SAT.org. Create an account. Follow the same steps as the ACT
Do I have to put my AP scores on my college application?
No. It is optional. The scores don't play a big role in admissions. If you did well, (Score 3-5), you can include them at your discretion. If not, you don't need to include them.
How do I sign up for a test and/or see test dates?
Go to SAT.org or ACT.org. Follow the prompts to sign up for a test, create an account, etc.
