10/28-11/1
Monday-Test on analyzing data in the solar system (6.1.3) and early out day. Tuesday and Wednesday-Pendulum lab to explore the scientific process, independent/dependent variables and graphing. Thursday-Technology in Space (Google Classroom). Friday-"What is matter?" and Bill Nye on atoms and molecules (paper in class). Check with a friend or Mrs. Pay regarding any journal pages you need to make up.
10/21-10/25
Monday-Finish planet project flip books (Google Classroom) and vocabulary (packet page 15) illustrations for astronomical unit, kilometer and light year (use the slides below). Tuesday-blue Solar System Data Sheet (in absent crate in folder 22) activity using the data tables below and vocabulary (packet page 15) illustrations for dwarf planet, planet and satellite. Wednesday-Using data tables (below) to compare properties of the inner and outer planets (worksheet available in class in folder 23). Thursday-Begin study guide (in class folder 24). Friday-Solar System worksheet and Cosmic Voyage video. The solar system test is on Monday!

10/14-10/16 Planet research projects (ALL ABSENT STUDENTS NEED TO CATCH UP BY NEXT MONDAY) on Monday and Wednesday. Use the template on Google Classroom and the links on this site (see below) to complete a page for each planet. Tuesday we will go into the lab for the Planetarium Dome. You don't want to miss this! Bellwork will be on Google classroom as well (Readworks articles).
10/7-10/11
Monday-Distances in Space. Bellwork is to complete all the vocabulary illustrations on packet page 13. Use the slides to complete pages 16-17 in the packet. You will need to skip the "Comparing Distances" section because that was completed as a group activity in class. Tuesday-Sense of Scale. Bellwork involves gluing the pages in the absent basket on pages 37 and 5 (look at a friend's journal). We also made an observation on page 38 (see the bellwork slide in the slideshow below). Directions for the activity and packet page 18 are on the last slide. Wednesday-The Sun reading passage and notes (available in the "Absent" crate in the 9th folder). Thursday-Folded paper lab (no mandatory makeup, but can be done in Charger Time next Tuesday). Friday- Planet properties lab.
9/30-10/4
Monday-Mass, gravity and inertia notes (packet page 14) from the powerpoint of the same name (on the left) below. We also had demonstrations and information from the second slideshow below. Use slides 1-23. Tuesday- article and questions on page 34 of journal along with bellwork on slide 24 below (right) journal/packet check continued from last week. Slides 24-28. Wednesday-Simulation and Marble Lab (pg 35 of journal) simulation Slides 29-32. Thursday-continue slides and finish gravity and inertia. Friday-assessment (see Mrs. Pay).
9/23-9/27
Monday-review. Study the pink study guide (I attached one below if you were absent). Tuesday-test. Wednesday-matter stations. Only a portion of this can be made up at home. Students should complete station 1 using any objects from home, investigation 5 and "Why Does Matter Matter?" questions using the article below. Thursday and Friday-matter and energy introduction and notes using the slides on the right. On Thursday most classes got through slide 12. Friday, we finished. Fold the yellow notes and glue them on page 33 in your journal.
9/16-9/20
I was out for a training Monday, but you had an awesome sub. Thanks Ms. Weeda! Monday-Length of Day double line graph using the data from Utah and Alaska on packet page 9 (home or Charger Time). Tuesday-Clark Planetarium seasons activity in the blackout room (no makeup available). Wednesday-We analyzed the data and graphs from Monday and Tuesday. Thursday-We had four stations: Page 11 in your packet, Reasons for the Seasons notes (gold-don't do the back), blue Seasons Lab Sheet (front and back) and Seasons Interactive (blue paper). Use the links below as needed. You can print off the interactive page from its link; Friday-direct and indirect light and CER for seasons (back of the gold sheet listed above).

Monday-Review of eclipses and intro to seasons (below on left); Tuesday-Four globes investigation (makeups will be during Charger Time); Wednesday-Trip Around the Sun. Tuesday through Thursday-Intro to eclipses and how we do our stations (due to copyright laws, students can make these up during Charger Time). I added the Watch It! video below as well as the Research It! website Research Link . Friday-I was out sick. There is a journal page with textbook reading and focus questions, plus a really great Bill Nye video on Seasons. There is a paper to fill out while watching the video. Both are attached below. 8/26-8/30-Test on Moon Phases Thursday
Monday- Moon phase stations (see slides below left): Phase Maze (cut and glue phases activity), article and questions, foldable with phase names, journal page 18; Tuesday-Gizmos interactive on moon phases (third attachment below); Wednesday-Essential questions #1-7 on packet page 12 using journal, packet and yellow Gizmos page from Tuesday (third attachment below); Thursday-quick review and test; Friday- Finish up test and moon phases (no makeup except for test). Make sure your journal pages are complete from this week. We'll be checking next week.
Read the information below, look in the absent crate under the correct date in class and watch all videos/slides that are provided. You can print off any worksheets by clicking on the arrow in a box that appears after you click on an attachment.
8/19-8/23: We began our unit on moon phases. Monday-intro to moon (see below left); Tuesday-Draw the Moon activity (no makeup); Wednesday-Sun, Earth and moon system model slides 1-7 (we made one for absent students); Thursday-Just a Phase activity and complete slides 8-17 (makeups for Just a Phase lab will be during Charger Time); Friday- Finished brad model from Tuesday using slides 8-22 of Sun, Earth, Moon system slides below, plus revolution/rotation and vocabulary words 1-3 on page 3 in packet (slides on the right).
