childcare resrouces

The Washington City website has a current list of childcare providers in the area, and is a good place to start if you are looking.

Assistance

If you need assistance in paying for childcare, there are a couple of resources that are available.

The first is HACAP. They offer several programs for care assistance including:

  • Head Start & Early Head Start

  • Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

  • Child Care Nurse Consultants

  • Paces to Quality

Visit the HACAP website for more information, or you can call the HACAP Washington Office at (319)-653-7275.

Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral is an organization whose sole purpose is to assist families with finding affordable childcare. Their website is a great place to start.

Another potential resource is the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). DHS offers a Child Care Assistance program. More information can be found at the DHS website.

The local YMCA does have a before and after school program. You can find information on that here. The Y does have scholarship opportunities for those who qualify.
