Dollars for Scholars

Washburn is a Dollars for Scholars community that helps to support our students Post-Secondary education! This is a great opportunity for all students to earn some money to continue their education and Mrs. Leingang is here to help you with this process!

  • Keeping this profile updated will help students with important information that will be needed to apply for most any scholarship senior year!!

  • Every student will create their profile at the end of their 9th grade year. This will help to organize all of the activities and awards students earn throughout high school!

  • Each spring Mrs. Leingang will work with students in grades 10-11 to update their profiles with new activities and awards from that year.

  • Senior year, Mrs. Leingang will meet with students a few times to work on finalizing their profiles. This is when we add in GPA and class rank information as well as work on the essay portion of the profile. Also, Scholarship America is a network of state and national scholarships that students can match with. Mrs. Leingang will go over the process of matching and officially applying for each scholarship!

Washburn DFS Site

This is a link to our local Washburn Dollars for Scholars (DFS) site. The student and parent tab is where you go to login, work on your profile, and apply for scholarships.

Completing the Profile and Scholarship Match

This document will walk you through the step by step process of creating a profile, filling out all of the important sections, and how to match and apply for scholarships. This is very helpful if you are working on the scholarship at home on your own!

Accepting Scholarships

After you are awarded a scholarship, the work is not done! You still need to go back into the system and officially accept the scholarship to get your money. Make sure your college information is correct as many times the check will go directly to the school and not you!
