Edgewood's staff has worked in Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) for over five years. As departmental PLC groups meet, they have developed common curriculum and common formative assessments. Teachers are currently looking at the rigor of their curriculum and assessments in order to ensure students are learning skills needed now and in the future.
As teachers continue to learn and adjust curriculum, they are incorporating Project Based Learning (PBL) skills into instructional units. All departments are involved in learning the various skills required for PBL and have begun using hooks at the beginning of lessons and are creating driving questions to go along with lessons that lend themselves to PBL structure. Teachers design their curriculum intentionally to help get the best learning results possible for students. The investment in students and in helping each other is what makes Edgewood a unique, high impact school.
