Geography is one of the disciplines of social studies. We studied the 5 themes of geography and how they help us to understand our world. The videos below could be useful if you need help understanding location, place, region, movement, and human-environment interaction. The slides we used in class are linked here as well. If you need more help, re-read the article that was assigned on Newsela. We also examined push/pull factors and how they relate to why people move. Those slides are linked below along with a couple of videos if you need some reinforcement.
Throughout the year, you'll be asked to read texts to learn more about the world. You'll need to think about what you read, not just memorize facts. Use the slides to review three steps involved in reading like a historian: sourcing, contextualization, and corroboration.
These videos help explain primary and secondary sources.
