All visitors must report to the office when entering the building. This includes parents, relatives, and any person wishing to conduct business at the school. Each person will be required to present a valid picture I.D. and will be given a visitor tag that must be displayed. Car keys will be taken and placed in the office until the visitor returns the tag and leaves. We have this policy in order to help ensure the safety of our students.
AES is a welcoming school that works hard daily to create an atmosphere where students want to come to school to learn and families like to come to school to volunteer.
Children love to have their families join them for lunch and it is a great way to see how your child’s day is going. We require all family members to stay in the main hallway or dining room during the lunch visit.
We require visitor tags and signing in at the office. We will exchange keys for a visitor tag for anyone visiting during the instructional day. This includes visiting during the lunch hours. The keys will remain in a closed-in area, only accessible to our receptionist, and then will be returned when the visitor properly signs out. This is for the safety of all of our children and staff so we know who is in the building at all times. We require everyone to participate with this safety feature (even once we recognize the volunteer or visitor).
We will ask to see a picture I.D. If the visitor is not on the emergency card, the student’s parent will be phoned to request permission. For safety purposes, if we are unable to reach a parent, then that visitor will not be allowed to stay for lunch.
Every instructional minute is important. Due to confidentiality, we cannot allow visitors to remain in a classroom during instruction. We strive to provide a learning environment that is free from interruptions and distractions so that an academic focus can be maintained. We also want to limit observations by visitors to respect the dignity of all students who are learning at different levels.
If it is necessary for a parent to bring an item or deliver a message during school hours, he/she should come to the office. This service can be done through the office staff to prevent classroom interruptions.
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please schedule a conference with your child’s teacher. We will be happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you and the teacher.
Phone calls made to the classroom during the instructional day will be sent to the teacher's voicemail. Please leave a message and all staff members will return the phone call in a timely manner.
All guests of AES should report to the office. Visitors will be given a visitor tag to wear after signing in properly.
Thanks for helping us keep our students safe and our learning time distraction-free!
