Pastoral Care

Pastoral system - overview

Each year group has ten tutor groups and they are led by a Head of Year. In Year 7, the Head of Year is Mrs O'Brien and she is supported by Mr Scourfield, Deputy Head of Year and two Pastoral Support Officers, Mrs Whear and Mrs Whyte.

Tutor Groups

Students are allocated to a Tutor Group and they will meet with their Tutor every morning. Tutors are the first point of contact for students and parents and their role is to support the transition into WPSA and to help each child to build and sustain relationships in order that they feel happy and safe. Tutors typically move up through the school with their tutor group and therefore become a well-known and consistent presence in the life of each student.

Pastoral support

The Pastoral Support Officer plays a key role in providing supporting and guidance to students. Their focus is on working closely with students and their families to ensure that every child's needs are known, recognised and supported.

Safeguarding

Ensuring that every child is safe is the most important thing that we do here at WPSA. A large part of this work is 'education' We have a team of Designated Safeguarding Officers trained to ensure that any issues or concern are responded to and resolved and they work in close partnership with parents and other agencies.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mr Sorrell, Deputy Headteacher. Should you have any concerns, please contact Mr Sorrell directly msorrell@wardenpark.co.uk

Attendance

Regular attendance is absolutely key to ensuring that each child flourishes. It is the single most important thing that underpins the building and sustaining of positive relations, with peers and staff, and is critical in helping each child to achieve excellent academic progress.
